MUVE
I am unfamiliar with MUVE. I am from the old school. I like to read real books I can hold in my hands. I do not need pictures in order to see what the characters look like or see a photo of a scene. I came visualize with my own mind with the vivid description that the author writes about in the book. I do know my grandson's father is a gamer and he plays all hours of the night with interactive games online with others all over the country. It seems it is addicting.
Than being said, I did see the movie Avatar and I can understand the pull this type of media has on a person. It would be fun to have an alter persona to play and do something else in a make believe world.
Any new inventive way a library can use to interest people or help them to learn and grow especially with technology today is a plus. The goal is to help teach and educate people. Learning should be fun.
I noticed a website that advertized MUVE for kids to teach them how to dance and exercise which has been used in schools.

SOCIAL MEDIA
I have FaceBook for the last three or four years to just keep in touch with family and friends. This is just a nice way to see how everyone is doing and getting along. It is an easy way to give congratulations and birthday wishes and to brag about a few things.lol. It is nice to see photos of how everyone is growing up. I also found some good information friends have passed on.
I have previously had a Linkedin account when I worked for TCU as a licensed insurance agent. I know it supposed to be good for professional business connections, but I do not have much use for it now. I know my husband is always looking at his Linkedin and he has over 500 contacts! He keeps telling how important this is for future job positions and connections.
I just got a twitter account today for my assignment project. My 19-year-old daughter told me I was NOT allowed to have one and I did not need it. This form of social contact is better left to the kids. I personally have to much other work to keep me busy. I find some of that stuff is too much of a distraction and contains too much gossip.
Any type of social media is helpful to get the word out or is a great way to communicate information to the public. These are just other ways for libraries or information science professionals to have a platform for relaying information. People are more apt to check FaceBook or other social media, so this is a great way of advertising. A professional example with Linkedin provides contacts in various related industry jobs as a way of having personal connections with acquaintances and friends as a source for future jobs and introductions to employment.
Update 2019
Since the original post, I graduated in 2015 and then got my Certificate in Nonprofit Management in 2017. From working in a library setting, I now realize how important social media is for organizations to interact and provide information for their patrons.

BOOK REVIEW
This was one of my daughter's first books. This brings many fond memories to me. It is a simple book, but it is a great time for a mommy and child to experience the world of words accompanied by the touch and feel that a child can relate to as she turns the pages of this little book. It is just a nice interactive way of introducing a child to the wonderful world of books by talking about familiar things in a child's life!
